The Municipal Pool, formed in 1955, gives small and medium sized municipalities the same insurance buying advantages enjoyed by large employers. The pool currently insures more than 40,000 municipal employees and their families.

The pooling of municipalities makes it possible for public employers and employees to save money by leveraging greater purchasing power while enjoying enhanced services and benefits. Ochs, Inc. is the exclusive administrator of The Municipal Pool.
Employers who participate in The Municipal Pool typically enhance their employee benefits program by packaging their core (employer paid) insurance plan with their optional (employee paid) insurance products. Employees can select and pay for the protection they believe they need.
The group insurance products available through The Municipal Pool are:
- Life
- Short Term Disability
- Long Term Disability
- Long Term Care
- Dental
- Vision
Benefits can be provided on a voluntary basis, employer paid basis, or a combination of both..
In addition, if your group has not looked at the market in a number of years, contact Ochs, Inc. to participate in one of the Minnesota state compliant Formal RFP processes that take place throughout the year. We will help you solicit proposals from multiple insurance companies, leverage large numbers as a member of The Municipal Pool, and assist in the evaluation of proposals while simultaneously fulfilling the requirements defined in Minnesota Statute 471.6161.
